The popular Art in Bloom starts this week at the WA Art Gallery. Hurry as this popular, annual event is a must-experience and only goes until August 24.
The gallery comes alive with the sights and smells of over 100 flowers installations influenced by the WA Art Galleries pictures. View art and the sweet-smelling works from August 22 to 24. Adult ticket prices are $8, concession $5. http://www.artgallery.wa.gov.au/index.asp

The exhibition explores garments, fashion photography, editorial to multi-media installations.This prestigious exhibition includes works from ae’lkemi, Aurelio Costarella, ericaamerica, Material Boy, and DD by Megan Salmon.

This extraordinary career is documented with samples from her 1968 label Ruta to her current work as the designer of bling. Tarvydas’ success if obvious with her designs being stocked in more than 170 locations in 16 countries around the world including Australia, the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.‘Looking Out’ and ‘The House of Tarvydas’ is showing unti October 10 at John Curtin Gallery, Building 200, Curtin University of Technology Kent Street, Bentley. The Bureau of Ideas was established in Perth as a forum for free-thinking ideas.
The Bureau’s series of topical talks span into conversations on visual arts, performing arts, architecture, photography, film, design, music, philosophy and science.
On August 25 the topic is ‘Too much art’? This examines the loss of ideas, difference and excess in art.
Speakers include: Robert Cook, Kate McMillan, Marcus Canning and Daniel Palmer

Nullarbor LAN Festival - August 15 and 16
Creatives to geeks celebrate the finale of the Nullarbor independent game developers competition by participating or attending a special two-day event party at the Bakery August 15 and 16.
The event starts this Friday with the Developers’ Old School Demoparty. Developers, designers and creative’s will work over 24 hours to create new games and digital content from start to finish.
Keen to be apart of the LAN festivities check out the gamejam website http://gamejam.org/.
The festival wraps up Saturday from 7pm when the Red Bull stimulated digital designers and developers present their works which they have just spent 24 hours developing. Punters get there on Saturday to see the finished digital games, vote for your favourite game and meet the digi set.
