Aurelio Costarella showed his Spring Summer collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival in New York, September 11!
Spring/Summer has been inspired by modern American abstract art with key focus on the greats Mark Rothko and Franz Kline.
This is highlighted in the bold black and white pieces through to the purple and turquoise then the subtle tones of lemon, smoke grey, charcoal and rose pink which is very Rothko.
Here are some highlights!

The event that was truly ‘the’ special moment over Perth’s Fashion Festival was the WA Designer Collections, because as the title said it was about our WA designers and stylishly executed.
Industry heavyweights were there to celebrate WA fashion. This year the event took a new approach and was backed by the Department of Culture and the Arts and project managed by Event Gallery. I felt I was at Rosemount’s Fashion Week not at the Convention Centre Perth.
The event was shown in two parts with new designers taking the catwalk first.

Local swimwear label Kooey International was launched in Broome by local Aboriginal Joanne Pellew in desperation as her daughter wouldn’t wear anything else.
This story is incredibly inspiring as Pellew has only been in business for two years and is proud to be the first Aboriginal swimwear designer.
The 800 strong crowd played witness to Kooey International spring summer collections on Sunday night. The collection saw a beautiful selection of original Indigenous art printed for the designs.

Our fabulous Aurelio Costarella’s leather jacket was featured in a fashion shoot for Denmark’s ‘S’ Magazine.
This beautiful shoot was photographed by Enrique Badulescu and inspired by a fusion of discotheque, rainbow, pop lighting and luxe bordello. A Daft Punk, neon coloured show was the result.
His work also appears in ‘Clear Magazine’ in a sharp shoot called Silhouette styled by Zeina Esmail and photographed by Ishi.
I was only in POST on Saturday and this jacket is still available and on sale!
